Ask
Calgary Co-op has deep roots in Alberta’s farming and ranching communities, first opening a grocery store in 1956. Today they boast being one of the largest member-owned retail co-operatives in North America. Their team was looking for a partner that could efficiently and cost-effectively produce significant volumes of photography and video content for their flyer, private label brands, website and ongoing email and social marketing.
Solutions
Co-op was attracted to Picnic’s unique pay per deliverable pricing and easily scalable content production capabilities. To get started, we built a massive inventory of recipe photography for their marketing platforms, shooting over 200 recipes in a mere 6 weeks. After further exploring Calgary Co-op’s needs, the Picnic team proposed setting up and managing a dedicated studio space next to their head office in Calgary to help their team with ongoing custom imagery requirements.
Results
Since 2019 the partnership has continued to deepen, with Picnic’s Calgary and Vancouver studios both supporting content production needs on a weekly and ongoing basis. Major achievements have included supporting the launch of a new flyer, two new private label brands, and producing video creative for numerous advertising and promotional campaigns.
Social Media Content
Whether for seasonal holidays or specific promotional campaigns, Picnic has developed custom social media assets to inspire the Calgary Co-op member community.
Recipe Development
Calgary Co-op provides value-added recipes to its members via its Make It Tonight program which includes in-store displays with recipe cards, weekly emails and an extensive recipe library on its website. Picnic’s culinary team has developed and photographed hundreds of recipes featuring all types of ingredients and occasions.
CO-OP Wine Spirits Beer
Calgary Co-op has multiple lines of business including liquor. Picnic has also developed cocktail recipes, social media videos and flyer photography for Co-op Wine Spirits Beer.
Flyer Photography
Calgary Co-op launched a new flyer in 2020. Picnic built out and manages a private photography studio on behalf of Calgary Co-op in a grocery store next to head office. After an initial push to build an image library to launch the flyer, Picnic’s photography and styling team continue to shoot original content on a weekly basis, now for it’s digital version.
